We don't have tea cakes but usually have lunch or coffee! Sometimes it's just two of us - last week Helen and I set ourselves the goal of writing a piece of flash fiction of 300 words. Val couldn't make the meeting last week so today we met and talked about our writing.Jan Baynhamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06356572488839476046noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3357383818158631304.post-56863141098038739652014-01-29T06:31:00.008-08:002014-01-29T06:31:00.008-08:00I think writing buddies can be good for different ...I think writing buddies can be good for different things. My writing friend Tracy and I meet up once a month to set goals, discuss our writing and encourage each other. We don't critique each other's work as I think this would spoil things. We just like to put the writing world to rights and eat tea cakes!Wendy's Writinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06960941625432714363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3357383818158631304.post-12769525663501839782014-01-24T05:14:33.156-08:002014-01-24T05:14:33.156-08:00Yes, I can see that. Even when new writers like me give and get feedback, though, telling what works is no help without pointing out the areas that need to be improved upon. I have learned so much over the last year from valuable feedback I've received and I like to think my stories are getting better - albeit slowly!Jan Baynhamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06356572488839476046noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3357383818158631304.post-64050238646319962842014-01-24T02:20:46.230-08:002014-01-24T02:20:46.230-08:00I confess my feedback tends to concentrate most on...I confess my feedback tends to concentrate most on the areas which I feel need improvement as that's what I most want to learn about my own work. I sometimes forget to say the rest is good.

I think we need different things at different times. Encouragement is important for very new writers, later on we need to know where we're going wrong so we can put it right.

Patsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12263765378083045973noreply@blogger.com
